Blackpool Tower Ballroom Tours

Blackpool Tower Ballroom
In addition to being the city’s most recognizable landmark, the Eiffel Tower–inspired Blackpool Tower is home to a variety of entertainment venues, including the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The 19th-century ballroom is a destination for dance fans from across the globe and filming location for the BBC series Come Dancing and some editions of the dance-competition series Strictly Come Dancing.

The Basics

Dating from 1894, the elegant Blackpool Tower Ballroom is famed for its ornate, crystal-chandelier-studded decor and unique sprung dance floor, made up of mahogany, oak, and walnut. Visitors can purchase admission tickets and glide around the ballroom at leisure to the sounds of the Wurlitzer organ. If you don’t want to dance, you can simply watch from the balconies or from the side of the dance floor while enjoying afternoon tea (at an additional cost).

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is a must-visit for couples and dancers.
  • There are six steps to the entrance of the ballroom, but a chair lift is available for wheelchair users. Wheelchair users cannot access the balconies.
  • Children under 14 receive free admission.
  • The Blackpool Tower Ballroom broadcasts live on the Blackpool Tower Facebook page on the first Wednesday of every month.

How to Get There
Located inside Blackpool Tower, the Blackpool Tower Ballroom is within easy walking distance of many major hotels and attractions. Buses 1, 5, 7, 10, and 14 stop outside, or you can take the Blackpool Tramway to the Tower stop. There is no parking at the tower.

When to Get There

The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is typically open every day, from morning to late afternoon, except on December 25. The ballroom does, however, periodically close for special events, so it is advisable to check the website or call before visiting.

Unique Experiences

In addition to the popular afternoon tea option, the ballroom offers a selection of unique experiences. The Blackpool Tower Wurlitzer Experience offers the rare opportunity to play the Wurlitzer on the grand stage. Large parties can even sleep in the ballroom (requires a minimum of 200 people).
