Fantastic Tour!

The Kensington Palace Gardens Royal High Tea
We loved this tour! Simon was our guide and we really enjoyed him explaining the things we saw in Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens. He has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for history. The tea was amazing. We had the breakfast tea, which Simon said is the queen’s favorite. It was delicious, as were the cakes, sandwiches, and scones. To remember this trip I bought a tea cup and saucer in the same pattern we used. Very nice gift shop near by, I recommend going in.

Long walk but worth it

The Kensington Palace Gardens Royal High Tea
It’s important to note that there is about a 45 minute walk through Hyde Park to the Palace. We went on an exceptionally hot day. So I recommend wearing good walking shoes & bringing a hat. I had neither so made the walk tough at times. The tea itself was delicious & in a beautiful setting. Our tour guide was informative & friendly & on time. I suggest visiting the palace itself. We were too late so unable to enter which was disappointing.

The Peter Pan Connection

Look out for the park’s bronze statue of Peter Pan, located west of the river. The writer of the original tales, JM Barrie, lived in Kensington with his Saint Bernard dog and spent a lot of time walking in the park. It was here he met the Llewelyn Davies family, who would go on to serve as inspiration for Barrie’s famous stories and characters.
