Gandhi Smirti is situated in the former home of the Birla family, a prominent business family responsible for building numerous temples across the country. The Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum is situated upstairs and features audiovisual materials and exhibits focusing on Gandhi and his life, including a mix of computer-generated images and actual artifacts. The complex is frequently visited on Delhi city tours, along with tours focused on Gandhi.

Gandhi Smirti is located in leafy central Delhi, one of the most walkable parts of town. It's a 10-minute walk from the Lok Kalyan Marg metro station on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro and a 10-minute walk from the Lodhi Gardens. The area is easily accessible by taxi or auto-rickshaw.
Gandhi Smirti is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday through Sunday. It is closed on most public holidays and on the second Saturday of every month. It's best visited on weekdays when there are smaller crowds. If you can, plan your visit for the middle of the day, as there’s a multimedia show held daily from 1pm to 1:30pm.
Delhi is home to a number of attractions related to Mahatma Gandhi. These include Raj Ghat, a large memorial park on the banks of the Yamuna River where the freedom fighter was cremated. Just across the street, the National Gandhi Museum features all sorts of memorabilia and educational displays dedicated to Gandhi's life and mission.
