Full-Day Tour: Kulen Mountain, Beng Mealea & Tonle Sap
I had this tour trip on 16-July-2022.
This tour is quite unique because I was looking for a day tour to see as many as possible places outside Angkor and Siem Reap within a day, but companies offer only either Tonle Sap Lake or Phnom Kulen or Beng Mealea trips separately. This one covers them all in a day, which is perfect.
I was picked up at 8:00 AM in my hotel lobby by driver Mr. Path with guide Mr. Bunchhoub. First you're going to Kulen Mountain, which we've reached by 9:30 AM. Take note that while heading there you make a stop to buy ticket to enter mountain area, which is $20. While approaching the mountain, Mr. Bunchhoub kindly agreed to make an extra stop for 10 min to visit Banteay Srei temple, which is on the way and is a memorable place to visit (I would include this temple to the program for just 10-15 mins, as well). On the mountain we've visited cliff with breathtaking views, waterfall, temple with Buddha on top of the rock and carvings in a river, before heading to Beng Mealea by around 1:00 PM. From 1:00 to 2:00 PM we had lunch near the entrance and then explored Beng Mealea. By 4:00 PM we've reached Tonle Sap Lake where you're having a boat ride, walk down the main road of Kampong Phluk and see the lake on a boat. Take note, that you will also need to pay $22 for the boat ride at the entrance. By 6:30 PM I was brought back to my hotel.
Driver Mr. Path is came very prepared - he always provides you with cold bottle of water when you finished previous one and he has a lot of cold fresh towels to cool you down after you explored each location under the heat.
Guide Mr. Bunchhoub is very experienced, helpful and passionate guide, I've been asking a lot of questions and learnt a lot! We had a good time with positive vibes that day.
I had a 1-day pass to Angkor (for 15-July) but nowadays it is actually issued for 2 days (till 16-July in my case) so I managed to go freely to Beng Mealea (and Banteay Srei temple). So make sure you have a valid pass for this day you're having a trip.
Thank you very much for opportunity to explore as many as possible places around Siem Reap and Angkor are within a day, it was really productive! I would suggest to include quick stop for 10-15 mins at Banteay Srei temple since it is on the way to mountain. Thanks to Mr. Bunchhoub for kindly including it in my trip!
