With many restaurants temporarily closed, now’s the time to test your home cooking skills. A Singapore food tour company owner takes you on a journey through global cuisines with recipes for Thai coconut soup, Indian masala dosa, sabbath-inspired challah bread, and more. Join her in the kitchen.
Kranji War Memorial
9 Woodlands Road
Singapore was a key player in the Pacific Theater of World War II, and the Kranji War Memorial is one of the best spots in the city to learn more about this chapter in history. To get the most out of your visit, join a World War II-themed tour of Singapore, which typically combine the memorial with the exhibition on the Japanese occupation at the Changi Chapel Museum; the Johore Battery; and the Selarang Barracks.
Ace was a really good tour guide...
Ace was a really good tour guide, and we greatly enjoyed the long tour. The only suggestion that could make the tour better would be if it included lunch at a local restaurant. We literally drove around the entire island, and visited so many sights that we could never have done this on our own. A fascinating view of history of Singapore.

Things to Know Before You Go
The Kranji War Memorial is a must-see for history buffs and those interested in Singapore’s role in WWII.
Three flights of stairs make the memorial inaccessible to wheelchairs, though assistance is available with advanced notice.
Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking over uneven surfaces.
How to Get There
The memorial sits on a hillside about 14 miles (22 km) outside of the city center. To get there by public transport, take the MRT to the Kranji Station—a 10-minute walk from the memorial. Don’t assume taxis know where it is.
When to Get There
The memorial is open daily from early morning until early morning. Each year on November 11, a Remembrance Day service is held as a tribute to lives lost.
Kranji Military Cemetery
Before or after your visit to the memorial, take a few minutes to visit the neighboring Kranji Military Cemetery. Many non-World War II veterans are interred here, as well as Singapore’s first and second presidents.
