The Best Cities Around the World to Celebrate Pride
Pride is more than just rainbows and parades.
One of Taipei’s highlight green spaces, the Taipei Expo Park is so named because it hosted the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exhibition. Today, the large multi-use public park offers walking and biking trails, ornamental gardens, museums, a garden maze, and recreation areas. It even hosts the occasional flower festival still.
Comprising three linked park areas—Yuanshan Park, Fine Arts Park, and Xinsheng Park—Taipei Expo Park offers Taipei locals and visitors a relaxing green space with an array of leisure activities. Situated near the Keelung River, the park still boasts many floral displays and pavilions from the exhibition, including the EXPO Hall, Pavilion of Dreams, Pavilion of Future, and Pavilion of Angel Life. Other park highlights include museums like the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and Taipei Story House, the Taipei Expo Farmers Market (held on weekends), a garden maze and rose garden, and more.
To explore the park at your own pace and to venture among its gardens and landmarks independently, plan a self-led visit. Alternatively, if you’re short on time, many of the Taipei Expo Park’s highlights can be admired on a hop-on hop-off bus tour of the Taiwanese capital.
Taipei Expo Park is just north of the city center. To get there using public transportation, take the MRT Red Line to Yuanshan Station or use local bus lines. Upon arrival, the park is best explored on foot and by bike (use YouBike public bike rentals).
The Taipei Expo Park is open to the public 24/7. Visit the park year round to watch its floral displays evolve with the seasons. To make the most of your trip, time your visit with typical daytime opening hours so you can explore the area’s museums and recreation areas.
Taipei Expo Park may be one of the city’s most popular green spaces, but it isn’t alone. Other parks and gardens that visitors should seek out include Da’an Forest Park (the largest park in the city center), the Taipei Botanical Garden (which offers a lush, peaceful retreat), Guandu Nature Park (a large nature reserve on the outskirts of the city), and many more.
