This was our first trip to Alaska. The water portion of this excursion was about 2 hours. We saw one whale's tail, twice, from a distance, for about 5 seconds each time. Although the scenery was beautiful, the whale watching was non-existent. The second part of the trip was Mendenhall Glacier. The bus dropped us off and picked us up. No tour, no history, no description, no guidance. The staff was friendly. The boat and bus were clean. But, overall, the experience was a disappointment.
Great for the family

Had a great time. We had our 1 year old with us and the crew was super accommodating! We got to see a few whales while out there. We did go toward the end of season so we weren’t sure we were going to get to see any but the crew assured us we would. Would recommend for sure!
Don’t miss it! Wow!!

From the knowledgeable start with Captain Luke and naturalist Bri to the finish with a sighting of a large white tale whale doing a deep dive this was extraordinary lifetime experience! So many whales to see on a wonderful day with an amazing 2 breach sighting too! Beyond our expectations!! It’s a must do!!!
Great whale watch

Monica,Briana & Ben were great on our whale watch. They were full of knowledge and kept it interesting and fun while spotting the whales! I would highly recommend this tour.
Big mammals.

Yes we were able to see whales and take pictures. Could have been a little longer, the staff were great.
Great option to cruise line tour...locally owned and operated

Great views of the glacier from the park. Whale watching was scattered as it is the end of the season but still saw some although fairly far off.
Great Whale Watching & Crew
, Sep 2021
Very organized tour. Driver provided information and our time at the Glacier was good. The highlight was the smaller boat and crew, Ben, Sarah, and Miranda, who were very knowledgeable and found the Whales. We saw many whales, tails, and a calf breeching! Great memories.
Orcas and Whales!
, Sep 2021
We saw orcas and humpback whales. One came right up to the boat. Ben, Monica and Sara were so knowledgeable and super fun. They knew all the hot spots and taught us how to spit the whales. Would definitely go again.
The best day!!!
, Sep 2021
The tour operator was Alaska Tales and they were excellent!!! Since the tour goers had gotten to the meeting point early, they took us to the Glacier site and gave us extra time there. We were the very first people there and the beauty and tranquility of being there was magical. Our bus driver, Juan, was a peach and gave us a great tour of Juneau while driving. Once on the boat to see whales, Luke, Sarah and Taz took us right to the spot to see many whales. We saw mamas and their calves, and quite a few others. The weather was also on our side and it was the best day of our vacation.
Great experience
