Leave the city by comfortable coach, and journey into Iceland’s countryside to search for the Northern Lights.

En route, listen as your guide explains the science behind the extraordinary natural phenomenon, also known as the Aurora Borealis. Learn about the Icelandic myths that have grown up around the spectacle, and how the fluorescent lights are formed by electrically charged particles in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Leave Reykjavik far behind, and head into an area free from any urban light pollution—the darker the skies, the better the chances of getting a good view of the lights.

Hop out of the coach at select locations with your camera in hand and scan the skies, with pointers from your guide. If you’re lucky, be treated to a display and gaze at the shimmering veils of fluorescent lights as they dance and move across the sky.

If you’re keen to get shots, get tips from your guide on how to set up your camera and take good quality photos. Sightings can’t be guaranteed, but if you don’t observe the lights, you receive a complimentary ticket to take the evening tour on another day.

After your evening spent looking for the lights, return to Reykjavik where your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Iceland
Before setting off on the Northern Lights tour, our specialists and guides make a decision of where the best possible chances to see the lights are. That means that there is no fixed location visited, and the destination is selected on a day-to-day basis. We can say with certainty that the Aurora Borealis is one of the most unique spectacles that life on Earth has to offer. That is why we make every effort to provide an unforgettable Northern Lights experience to our passengers with daily tours, supervised by our expert guides. After operating Northern Lights hunting tours for many years, we know a thing or two about finding the best possible viewing conditions. Before each tour, we study the weather forecasts to help us decide what the best location that night will be. If the conditions are right, you may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the heavens, painting dramatic shapes, colors and patterns on the night sky.

Cold but fun.

Great night. Although lights didn't show. Great to hear the tour guide tell us some stories. Went from South to East trying to find the lights but never showed.

Disappointed

We joined the bus, and the tour guide was very poor-language and content of information given. Obvious that the weather would prevent viewing of lights but we stayed for no reason. Really disappointing, no discussion re being able to view again or how to organise if we wanted to do this. So we will not be able to do this as have other things arranged , in short time we are here. Today we went with guide on Golden Circle Classic- so good, really good level information and enjoyed slot.

Pricey for a hit and miss tour

Didn’t get to see the northern lights unfortunately. Was a little disappointed that we only got to go to one location to an attempt viewing. I spent most of this excursion sitting on the bus as it was -3 outside and it was too cold to stand out.

There were no northern lights and we stayed there way too long with no activity. I understand that events are booked in advance but there should be a refund or reschedule mechanism when these events occur

Trip was cancelled for our original booking due to poor visability. Rebooked for another night. We did get to see glimmers of the lights. Top tip is to bring a cmgood camera or phone as the photos you take show the lights better than our own eye sight. Was great to see them and how the sky changes.

Was originally meant to go Friday. Someone called us to tell us where to be for pickup, no one showed. They moved it to Saturday and then cancelled without letting us know until we called. Crappy service.

Really disappointing

The weather was poor, complete cloud cover and yet the tour went ahead. We went from one place to another standing in the rain and looking at nothing. Most people were sat on the coach fed up. There was only one toilet stop with only two toilets and that was in 5 hours. Not great for us oldies! The guide was lovely and encouraged us to email the company for another night’s excursion - of course most people wouldn’t be able to do this as they’d other trips booked.

Waste of time

5 hours in a tour for nothing. No lights a waste of time for a tourist. How come you don’t know if it’s going to be a light and make a tour?

Amazing

Picked up outside our hotel which was easy, once on Darren and Sygni were very welcoming with Darren explaining a few things about the lights and the best way to capture it. The first location we stayed at was unsuccessful, however we then drove another 45 mins to Kerid's crator and we finally saw the amazing lights, was a once in a lifetime experience. Special thanks to Artemus who not only showed us how to capture amazing photos on our phone, but also took some of me and my partner. Would highly recommend
