guide is in wrong profession - not inspiring

Firstly Viator failed me by not sending the correct guide . I had requested Rabia or Gurdeep. Disappointed at the demeanour and casualness of our guide . It seemed he just got up from bed and came with whatever he was wearing for last few days extremely under confident and not flown in English or even Hindi - we had to listen to his mix of 2 words in English and 3 Hindi and 4 punjabi. On TOP he no great depth of Sikh history , we were a highly educated group and frankly knew more except some old story of berry tree and the other tree story . I understand he has to be very quite while going thru the. Temple but we could have been given some introduction as to what we were about to see and in what order and brief us , instead first 20 min we just followed from lane to lane and rooms . All he kept assuring us that he will tell in end and we were free to ask any questions ( the only English sentence well versed he was) in the end he told us but time is gone we’re tired and the poor English and zero personality killed the experience. Wish they told me that Rabia and Gurdeep left the company and no suitable replacement, I would not have taken this tour You really need to test on his knowledge , English , he should be professionally dressed, look clean and pls drop the cap and backpack Would not use Viator in India again !

Maybe the Best Way to Experience the Golden Temple?

An outstanding -- and moving -- experience. Met guide Samson ("Sam") near (not at) the Partition Museum and walked a few minutes to the Golden Temple. Sam knew the exact timing of things, and the best places from which to observe each part of the ceremony, and how to hurry to avoid the crowds for the next stage. A great job. Now, ... I HIGHLY recommend this as the way to visit the Golden Temple complex. The views--and the whole atmosphere-- at night are, well, magical; and the idea of "putting to bed" the sacred book of the Sikhs is both charming and moving. Sam also made sure that we got to visit the huge communal dining area, where they serve an average of 30,000 meals a day (perhaps 50,000 on special days), including visiting the kitchen where the food is prepp'd. and the amazing clean-up process. Again, this tour is a wonderful way to experience the Golden Temple complex.
