Escape the bustle of the city on a sailboat tour through Lake Michigan with a convenient departure from Navy Pier. The cruise offers plenty of frame–worthy photo opportunities, including sweeping views of the Chicago skyline rarely seen by visitors. As a popular choice for both locals and visitors, your experience is guaranteed to be family–friendly and tailored to your needs. Select from Pirates and Maritime Stories Sail at 1pm, Skyline/Architectural Theme at 3pm and 5pm, and Skyline Sunset Sail at 7pm. This sail is approximately 75 minutes. The ship leaves promptly at the scheduled time, please allow for time to park, off the pier if necessary.

We are located on the South dock, on the south side of Navy Pier, between Billy Goat Tavern and the Riva Restaurant. If walking on the south dock from the entrance, walk where you see restaurants and boats, walk pass the Ferris wheel, walk past the sign for the Shakespeare theater, then on right!

This activity will end right where it started.
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • All Passengers must be present 30 minutes prior to advertised sail time. The Ship leaves on time. Please allow ample time for Chicago traffic, getting lost, and not being able to park close.
  • Minimum drinking age is 21 years
  • Dress code:should be sensible for the weather
  • Service animals allowed
  • Near public transportation
  • Not recommended for travelers with back problems
  • Children under 16 years of age, must be accompanied by an adult
  • Windy is NOT HANDICAP accessible.
  • Guests must be able to ambulate up and down 6 steps on each side of the boarding ladder.
  • Assistive devices must be left on the dockside storage area and may not be used on the ship while underway.
  • Windy is NOT HANDICAP accessible
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 140 travelers

The Skyline Tour was amazing. We initially were running late and missed the 5pm tour, Andy was caring and accomodating. He made it so we could be stand-by for the 7pm tour, which actually worked out in our favor as we were able to sail and see the sunset along Chicago’s skyline. Aboard the ship the Captain and his crew were great. They were very friendly. Great tour overall, had a great time and got some great photo worthy shots.

We had a good wind so we were fascinated with Captain Bruce and his sailors. We didn’t participate in the pirate stories but I helped raise the sail. It was a beautiful ride. Just wish it had been longer! Next time-fireworks!

The crew was very friendly and the boat is nice. It is a very short “sail” and I think we only had the sails up for maybe 30 minutes. There were approximately 100 people on-board.

We are glad you found our crew friendly and our ship nice. Out of the 70 minutes of the tour we do have to get out of the breakwaters to hoist the sails and then return. Depending on how the wind wants to blow, 30-45 minutes of sailing is about right. We hope you’ll join us again this season.

Worse tour ever. They advertise going out on Lake Michigan instead they going around the harbor in a circle. They don’t leave the harbor and no lake. The day we went out it was so windy and cold that it was too unbearable to sit on deck that we sat inside. Waste of money and time. Avoid at all cost.

We are sorry the guests did not enjoy their tour. As the guest stated, the weather was cold and windy. The one thing we can not control is the weather. Most guests understand this is beyond our control. When weather is bad, for safety reasons Windy does stay within the break-wall. We have offered the guests complimentary tickets Mon-Thurs 1pm to 5pm sails to experience the Tall Ship in better weather.

The cruise was cancelled at the last minute (after we arrived) due to high winds. But, parking is very expensive and it's time consuming to drive to Navy Pier. I understand that weather is an issue, but all the other boat cruises were operating and we were stuck with expensive parking.

Good morning Scott. It is always a difficult decision to cancel due to weather. In this case, the winds were at 24 sustained with gusts to 40. See the attached pic. The icing on the cake is that the winds were coming in from the south which then blows the ships right into Navy Pier, not out into the water. It was just not safe. Our Senior Master Captain definitely made the right decision. Once the decision was made, we called, texted and emailed everyone. Unfortunately, you did not receive that message. We wish you the best. We provided a full refund and wish you the best and hope you can come back.
