Great Day in the Midlands

A fantastic day spent outside in the country learning about Ireland's fascinating history. Our driver/guide David was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful got us everywhere on time safely. Marty, who led us around the Hill of Uisneach was a force! Very engaging, enthusiastic and passionate. Perfect person for sharing his knowledge and love for this area. Fore, Loughcrew Cairns, Trim Castle and Tara were all wonderful sites. We were extremely lucky with the weather, beautiful bright sunny day. But still very cold. I strongly recommend many layers, and definitely warm, sturdy walking shoes. Most of the tour is spent walking around fields, and up and down muddy, slippery inclines. Not overly strenuous. A great adventure.

We had a great tour! Connor was amazing and informative. We ended up having a beautiful day after a long stretch of rain. I had no idea what any of the sites were prior to the tour and I can honestly say I have a genuine interest afterwards. Well worth it.

More history than stories
VHes
, Oct 2019
My husband and I enjoy learning the history of iconic places in other countries. The Celtic Boyne Valley trip with Irish Day Tours was filled with history and some very interesting walks through fields and over hills. As Ireland can be rainy, I wished I had known to have better footwear than just gym shoes for the walks, but in using the paths, it was not too bad. Sights are wonderful in views and corresponding to the history. In 2007, I took this tour with Paddy Wagon and they give more of the legends and stories than the history. Make your choice on which you prefer, history or legends.

We had two guides and it was trouble from the beginning. Learning about what we saw was great but when one guide talked the other would interrupt because the first one would miss something and it was not needed.

It was interesting. it was a windy night and hard to stand with the very hard breeze. The guide show us a lot of old stones that have been standing before they made the pyramids.

If you are interested about ancient history and the people this is a tour you want to take. It was a small group tour of only 14 people so it was quite intimate. Our guide was full of knowledge about these ancient places.

It was two days ago and I still feel chills down my spine. What a uniqu and eye appealing trip it was! Special thanks to Rocky (our guide) for being so nice and effective making us feel at one with the Irish mythology and heritage. The castles, the mounds, the green landscapes, the legends... I'm bringing all the magic back home. The final stroll around the hill of Tara was the icing on the cake. 5/5
