Returns to original departure point
Your full-day tour through the Scottish Highlands departs from central Edinburgh in the morning. Meet your friendly guide and settle in for the northbound ride toward Inverness. Along the way, pass the dramatic Forth Railway Bridge—a UNESCO-listed bridge that once boasted the largest cantilever span in the world – and pause in Pitlochry for some tasty refreshment (own expense).

Continuing north, wind through Cairngorms National Park, catching lovely views of peaks and waterfalls rushing through craggy ravines. Soon arrive at the mythical Loch Ness, where you have free time to explore the surrounding countryside, visit Urquhart Castle, or grab lunch (own expense). Or purchase an optional cruise on the loch for some tranquil sightseeing and a cheeky search for the famed water monster, Nessie.

Next, continue your coach tour to Glen Coe, a glen of breathtaking beauty that boasts high mountain peaks, ridges, bubbling rivers, and waterfalls. Hear about the historic MacDonald clan that resided here and suffered in the brutal massacre of 1692.

From here, begin your return trip to Edinburgh, passing Stirling Castle on the way. Snap some photos of the historic site—former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots—and learn about its colorful history, riddled with warfare such as the Battle of Stirling Bridge, led by William Wallace.

Then relax for the return ride to Edinburgh, where your full-day trip ends back at the starting point in the evening.

My friend and I had an amazing trip to the Scottish Highlands with Steven B. on New Year’s Day! He was so informed on many topics ranging from tv, movies, music and history. I learned more on this tour than I did at any other point on my trip. I can’t wait to come back to Scotland and visit the highlands again!!

I was on the tour with Graham an Stewart and it was perfect. We left in the morning and as we were leaving Edinburgh, Graham began explaining Scottish History and soon, I was mesmerized by it. As we were driving first the motorway and then the little roads in the Highlands, Graham let us know so many things, although I don't doubt for a second that he could have filled several days with interesting stories, anecdotes and little nooks of history. We always had enough time at every stop, and Stewart and Graham made sure we all were taken care of. I usually don't like to sit in the back of a bus and in combination with the hills in the Highlands I thought I was going to be sick when taking a seat back there. But Stewart definitely knows how to drive, so if anybody is unsure about the tour because of motion sickness- Stewart has got your back! I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and I will come back. A few days later I'm still thinking about all the information and I just ordered a book on Scotttish history to learn more. Very thankful for this tour, I had a blast and recommend it highly!

Very lucky to have Jason (driver) and Josh (guide) as the drive was smooth, informative and entertaining. The highlight for us were the amazing expanse beauty of the highlands. Unfortunately, we did not stop to capture the beauty of the mirror lakes on our cameras, otherwise, this would have been truely amazing.

Really enjoyed this tour, Graham was our guide and he was so funny and friendly. Its an extra 20 for the cruise, someone suggested not taking the cruise to get more time at the castle but if you don't take the cruise you don't get to go to the castle at all, so don't take that persons advice. The weather was sunny in the afternoon, and even when it showered a bit the views of Glen Coe were amazing. Nothing can compare seeing Loch Ness, take this tour!
