Head next toward Tan Hoa, observing countryside farming activities like drying rice, planting cabbage, and watering hyacinth, which is used to craft baskets, and stop in the village of Tan Trung and see a temple of the Cao Dai, a Vietnamese religious movement that combines beliefs of other religions. When you arrive in Tan Hoa, you'll enjoy some local activities. Taste coconut or sugarcane juice at a garden, relax in a hammock, and go for a scooter ride with a local driver to see remote villages, lush fields, and duck and goat farms.

Just after midday, continue your day trip to Tan Thanh Beach for a seafood lunch at a waterfront restaurant, and then make the 1-hour drive to My Tho, stopping on the way at Vinh Trang Temple. When you arrive at the pier in My Tho, hop on a motorboat for a cruise along the Mekong River to reach Ben Tre, where you'll visit coconut candy and handicraft workshops, take a horse-cart ride, and travel along a canal on a smaller boat to experience more of life on the river. Finally, walk along a village road to reach your tour vehicle in Ben Tre for the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, where your day trip ends with drop-off in the early evening.

Go Cong
An authentic experience awaits you, and all this just an hour and half from the Ho Chi Minh City. The sparsely populated Go Cong Island offers the intrepid traveller the opportunity to experience village life. The untouched island is visited by very few tourists. The villagers offer a friendly smile before taking you in to their homes for lunch. They are immensely proud of their villages and way of live. You will see how they live off the land, how they grown Dragon Fruit, find out the uses of coconut and try a fresh chili (if you dare!). Explore the waterways in a sampan and ride the local roads by bike. An authentic experience awaits, and all this just an hour and half from the Ho Chi Minh City.

We were so glad we booked this trip...

We were so glad we booked this trip. Phu and the driver collected us promptly at 8 am and we were taken on a fantastic exploration outside of the city. First stop was a market on the suburbs of the city to buy our choice of fresh fruits to snack on during the day as well as fresh king prawns which were cooked for us later in the day at our beach side lunch. We stopped off to visit a fantastic ruin of a temple and then went on to a local village where we lay in hammocks whilst they made us fresh sugar cane drinks. After that we were taken on a motorcycle scooter ride through the village to see the paddy fields and observe village life. After lunch we visited another temple before taking a ferry taxi on the Mekong River to Unicorn Island where we snacked on more local fruits before a paddle boat ride along the beautiful canals, and the a ride in a horse drawn cart. Phu, our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and was an absolute delight to spend the day with. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone as it was a great way to get out of the city and observe rural life in Vietnam.
