Intimate Oak Alley Tour

Larry was a knowledgeable host and a fantastic driver. We enjoyed listening to his life stories of growing up and living here. He was prompt for our pickup and pointed out areas of interest or history on our journey to Oak Alley. So enjoyable. There were only 4 folks total for our tour departure out of Nola and that was lovely. Thank you Larry. Anthony at Oak Alley was a little hard to understand. Louder speaking and possibly a clear mask would help. He was informative.

Our driver Mrs. Debbie was an absolute sweetheart. She was very friendly and knowledgeable of Louisiana history. Be advised the ride is very bumpy. Our tour guide at Oak Alley was Anne, she was a delightful lady. She gave a great tour, helpful and provided many suggestions for New Orleans. Be mindful that the slave quarters are not the original buildings. The plantation as a whole is beautiful, the entrance leading to the main house is breathtaking, great for pictures. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The ride from the French Quarter to plantation is one hour, and we had a little over two and a half hours at the plantation.

Fantastic tour! Our tour guide, Logan, was terrific. He was engaging and a great historian. We decided to extend our stay a bit so we could visit another Plantation after this tour.

Lacking in enthusiasm and history

In all honesty the tour left a lot to be desired... Our tour guide wasn’t very enthusiastic, had a very monotone voice. The guided tour was a very short 15 min walk through the inside and outside of the home. There didn’t seem to be a lot of documentation of what went on in the house-on any given day. No blueprints telling visitors what the rooms would have used to be used for. We walked ourselves over to the slave quarters and read placards explaining the object.. no guide there. The good thing about this tour was how beautiful the landscape and the outside of the house was. I’ve gone on a few tours in Nashville and I came with an expectation of being wowed and taken back into time and that did not happen here. If you ask me there are many more things you can do in Louisiana that would be worth the time and drive instead of taking this tour...

Enjoyed this tour! On the way to the plantation, Steven provided a lot of information about areas /sites we passed. He was informative and made the driving time fun! When we arrived at the Laura plantation, we were welcomed and given our ticket. We had time to walk through the museum before the tour started. Very interesting. Rose was our tour guide. She was so knowledgeable and provided great detail about the history of the plantation. She made the families come alive. We are so glad we chose the Laura plantation; great experience.
