Excellent tour and worth the money. The guide told us a lot of interesting stories about all the different villages. Though it was misty we enjoyed the entire tour. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves being amidst quiet and cosy English villages enjoying the beautiful rivers and scenery around.

Excellent tour

I had originally been thinking of touring the Cotswolds on my own. I was planning to go to one of the towns and rent a bike and bike all around, but when I heard how tricky the bus situation can be in the Cotswolds (especially on Sundays-the day I was planning to go) I started looking at tour options. I quickly found this tour on Viator and it seemed very reasonably priced. Also, the tour was going to all the little towns I wanted to see. I personally have never been a fan of tours because I love exploring on my own, but under the circumstances, I decided to take the tour. I am so glad I did!! Tom is an EXCELLENT tour guide. 5 stars really doesn't do him justice. He is friendly, accommodating, very knowledgeable about the area, makes you feel safe and sound and manages to keep the tour moving right on time. The bus is very comfortable and provides a good view as well and the places that were selected to visit were so very lovely. I loved each one of them, especially some of the little hidden gems he showed us that I probably wouldn’t have found on my own. I think the only down side was not having as much time in each place as I wanted, but when you are trying to see several in one day, you really have to keep moving and plus having a tour guide helps keep you accountable so that you don't miss anything (which is probably what would have happened if I had been on my own). I am personally very happy to have made the choice I did and it was one of my favorite days of my vacation in England. I feel like I saw so much more that I probably would have on my own. Oh, I should also mention that the train in Oxford was cancelled and I had to take a slightly later train and I seriously had a moment of panic. But upon contacting Tom, he was reassuring and had a plan B so I didn't have the miss the tour. I think this is a great all around tour and that the majority of people will really enjoy it. Oh, also, I think it's a good tour whether you are fit and can move about easily or if you take things a little slower. There were both types of people on my tour and since you get to decide what you want to do in each town you stop, you can pretty much taylor it to your fitness level/level of activity. Tom provides the recommendations for what to do and then you get to decide what to focus on. It's a lot of fun and I highly recommend this tour!

Hi Sara, thank you so much for your very kind and detailed review - I think you've covered everything! :-) I know what you mean about preferring independent travel over guided tours - Tom and I are exactly the same when we travel! But we hope you found that our tour is a good mixture of the two. The Cotswolds is a pretty big area – even our tour barely scratches the surface – so to try and do it all on your own (especially by public transport!) would be quite a feat. We have developed our tour to give you plenty to self-explore the Cotswolds towns and villages we visit, with just enough information and guidance from us to make sure you don't miss anything! Thank you for helping the TripAdvisor community to know what to expect when they come on our tours, and thank you for your recommendation!

Nearly perfect day tour. Tom knows lots about Cotswolds and he chose the best combination of those villages. Minuses: one of the two toilets in Cumden was a mess; can we have a route map?

Visit best of Cotswolds in a day with informative guide

Tom was a friendly and informative local guide who took us around the best places to see in an organized manner. Maps of a few of the larger stops were provided which made finding places to eat and see easy. It would have been nice to have a little more time at these larger locations to visit local shops and see everything, but we did get to many locations in a limited time.
