Private Petra Highlights Day Tour

I highly suggest getting a guide to take you into Petra for at least a half day. You can continue of from there if you have the energy! You could really spend 2 days at the site. One to walk all the way up to the Monastery, and a second one to walk up above the Treasury. I booked this for just 1 friend and I. Our guide Sami was amazing, and if you can, request him. He was very knowledgeable about the site, history of Jordan, and spoke English perfectly. Not to mention his great picture taking skills. Our trip to Petra will forever be remembered and he was a big part of that. Thank you Viator for hiring such great local guides.

This tour was great. The highlights tour was enough to get us started on our day in Petra, with a nice focus and great storytelling. Our guide Sami was very knowledeable and spoke with extreme clarity (very good and clear English, which is sometimes an issue).If you visit Petra without a guide, you will miss out on so much of what makes Petra so spectactular, and Sami's focus on certain highlights was perfect. Very fascinating, and he had answers for all of my questions (so many questions...). He also shared a lot of insight into how Petra effects the local community, and the issues that they have being so focused on tourism as an industry. I did not know about some other options (to visit some of the neighbouring Bedouin communities beforehand), which would have been nice (unfortunately, I can't link to the particular site here, and some of them do not look great).If you are just doing a day trip to Petra, I could not recommend Sami more highly. He is a fantastic tour guide.
