I couldn't find the starting point, even after asking vendors in the area. I received the email with the directions 30 minutes after the start.
Response from Host , Aug 2022
We send every guest an email with our meeting point well in advance. We get hundreds of visitors every month that have no trouble finding our office. We have a phone number you could've called instead of asking other tour companies who may have no clue where our meeting point is. When you couldn't find the meeting spot and missed your tour, we graciously refunded your ticket.
Great tour!

Very informative tour. Our guide was excellent. He was a history teacher but did these tours during the summer. He was very knowledgeable and had a sense of humor. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Great adventure.

The tour guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. Unfortunately his microphone was not functioning and difficult to hear all he had to say
Wouldn’t do it again.

The tour guide was great, very knowledgeable and full of information regarding the “witch” trial and history surrounding it, but there was nothing to see. The witch house was not really the witch house, you can’t see the tree in which the people were hung. I just thought there would be a lot more visual things to see to be able to put with the story. I think for the walking that was required to really not see anything, was not worth it.
Response from Host , Jul 2022
The trials were 330 years ago and the buildings are gone. The Witch House is the home of Judge Corwin. It's called the witch house because of his ties to the witch trials. We know the site of the executions, but nobody knows what tree was used to hang the witches. Nobody knows if the tree still exists. And the debate rages as to whether they used a tree for the first hanging and then built a gallows. We know the locations of many of the events. Every tour in Salem has the same issue, but at least our tour shows pictures we've found from old books of people's homes and locations where events happened that are too far to walk. We walk about a mile because many locations were centered in the downtown area.
Nice snapshot of Salem 1692/1693

Tour was quick paced but not too fast that we couldn't keep up. My husband walks with a cane and Christine was great with making sure she didn't start talking until he was there also. Christine is very knowledgeable about the city and the events that took place. 90 minutes is a nice slice of time for the tour and we didn't feel like it dragged on.
Great tour

Our guide was engaging and charming. We had someone on the tour who was a descendent of an accused and executed witch...so interesting.
No historical areas to view.

There is nothing to see on the walk pertaining to the witch trials. It is a walk only for the exercise. The guide was very knowledgeable and kind.
Response from Host , Jul 2022
Hello Cecelia, Most of the structures from the trials are gone, except for the Witch House (Judge Corwin's House). We do our best to try and bring back the history of 1692 with pictures and stories. We go to the Salem Witch Memorial and The Witch House as well as other locations where people lived and where events happened. No tour can do anything different, but we do it better than all.
Low energy and minimal engagement by guide. Would not use 🎤

Tour guide was reading index cards and was not the most engaging. Group had to ask many times for him to turn on his microphone which he kept turning off.
Response from Host , Jul 2022
Hello Margot, we're sorry to hear you didn't have the best time with us. While we allow our tour guides to bring notes and other items, they are always reminded to use these only to help enhance the tour as the history of the Witchcraft Trials is a complex story. Salem can be a loud and busy city and our guides are always encouraged to make adjustments for volume throughout the tour.

The guide gave Wonderful information throughout the tour. But the tour needs to include a walk through the cemetery, walk around the stone benches representing the lives lost. Our stops along the tour were in parking lots Disappointing
Response from Host , Jun 2022
The 1692 Salem Witchcraft Walk does not enter the cemetery because none of the victims of the Witch Trials are buried there. We do go to the Witchcraft Memorial but it is a public area so we as a group usually stand a few feet away so everyone can view the memorial. We use pictures to bring back locations of Salem in 1692 that aren't around today.
Not for historians.

Disappointing. I had hoped for a more serious historical tour delving into the 1692 history of the witch trials. This was a lot of standing and pop culture references and joking about the accused.
Response from Host , Jun 2022
Sorry to hear you didn't have the best time with us. While some of the guides might joke around or something while walking to a new stop, there should've been a lot of history and historical facts from the Witch Trials of 1692 at each stop. Please email me at salemhistoricaltours@gmail.com and next time you come to Salem I would like to have you back for a tour on us.
Excellent Your!

Our tour guide was very thorough and posed questions that left you thinking hmmm.... She covered the history of 1692 with side stories that tied into the Witch Trials.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We’re always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
